THE ART OF HORSES - Muskoka as a Designated Arts Community

ART of HORSES & HORSE’N AROUND: The indomitable spirit and graceful movement of the horse have been an inspiration for artists throughout the ages. Our aim is to bring together the passion and the beauty of both the artistic and equine communities and we work with several local horse farms to offer a variety of locations that are suitable for the portable drawing, painting, sculpting and photography mediums.

We will coordinate private programs specifically catered to an artist's inspiration. Private or group sessions can be arranged. Participants will be accompanied by one or more equine facilitators who will encourage movement and engagement from the selected equine models. Horses can be presented at liberty, on-line, solo or in a herd, under saddle or in harness. Horse, artist and facilitator will work together to create inspiring works.

THE GLASS MENAGERIE - If your passion for horses includes a passion for stained glass, we invite you to visit the local studio of artist, Annemieke Struyk, who creates a myriad of beautiful equine and other animal-related works of art. Annemieke’s studio offers a rare opportunity for artists to learn the traditional art of stained glass, or to request a custom-made image of their own horse.
