BarnBoots, Exploring Horse and Human Horizons

THE BACK FORTY

As we explore our horse and human horizons we have often come across “other stuff” that we would like to share, yet it doesn’t readily fit into our other main categories. So like many working farms, we have a dedicated space for these extras. Welcome to our Back 40.

HORSE Play – Savvy Club
In association with Debi Austin, Parelli Student, we coordinate co-ordinate regular "play dates" for local horse people interested in getting together to share knowledge and resources as well as simply ride and train together. Consider it a "4-H for adults" of sorts… informal info-sessions and quality time with like minded people, designed to encourage networking, social interaction and to just have fun with our horses in a supportive and fun training environment.

All horse people (and friends!) are invited and encouraged to join us, with or without their horses. While the focus of the club include a large component of the Parelli approach, we include any progressive approach to training that puts the relationship first, and hope that the wide range of skills and expertise in our local horse community will augment all of our learning and sharing opportunities.
****
Our first get together at the Southwell Horsemanship Centre was a great success. Over 25 people came out and shared with us the joys of natural horsemanship. We introduced the first few games of the Parelli method and showed examples of how to correlate the principles of the games into a purpose by introducing a variety of obstacles for horses and humans to play with. Many thanks again to Holly for the use of her facility and horses!

The subsequent get-togethers will be in the "bring your own horse if you wish" format, so get your trailers back on the road, and your horses ready!

The upcoming dates are:

April 18th, 2010   Debi Austin's place in Huntsville   Tools, techniques and training
May 16th, 2010   Winding Fences Windemere   Introduce your horse to Cattle Work
June 20th, 2010   TBC
Dates and times are subject to change and weather – check our event Calendar for most recent information and rain-call protocol
